The Remo and Ijebu in Ogun State are among those demanding a new state, to be known as Ijebu State. Senator Lekan Mustapha, representing Ogun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, is among those in the forefront of the agitation. He spoke to CHARLES COFFIE GYAMFI in Ijebu-Ode , arguing that creation of the state was long overdue because out of the old 24 provinces in Nigeria, only Ijebu province was yet to get a state while three states had been created out of the old Sokoto province and two states out of Kano. |
